Reflection on Assignment 5: PowerPoint Interaction Working on Assignment 5 gave me the chance to develop interactive design skills in PowerPoint. I learned how to create non-linear navigation by disabling the default "next slide" feature and adding custom navigation buttons, which made the presentation more interactive. I also became more comfortable using design principles like contrast, alignment, and proximity to make the slides visually engaging and user-friendly. One aspect I enjoyed was experimenting with hyperlinks to build a choose-your-own-adventure style structure. However, I found it challenging to ensure that all navigation paths worked seamlessly, especially with complex branching slides. Next time, I could improve by testing each slide path earlier in the process to catch any navigation issues sooner. This would streamline the workflow and help avoid last-minute fixes.  Using Data Collection Tools as a Teacher As a future history teacher for high school studen...

In working on this Web Design assignment, I gained new skills in structuring web pages, organizing visual elements, and utilizing multimedia effectively. I learned how to use tools to embed images and adjust spacing, as well as how to create clear navigation paths for users. I applied specific design principles to make my website user-friendly and visually appealing. For instance, I used Contrast by selecting background colors that allow the text to stand out, making it easier for readers to focus on content. The Repetition principle was applied by maintaining consistent fonts and colors across all pages, which helps create a cohesive look and enhances usability. I also relied on Alignment to ensure that each section on a page was structured evenly, allowing for a clean and organized feel. Proximity helped me group related elements together, such as placing images next to relevant text sections to create a stronger connection between visuals and information. Overall, I enjoyed...

Blogging has been an enriching yet challenging process for me. One aspect I enjoy is how it allows me to share insights and reflections in a structured format, while encouraging deeper thinking about the topics I write on. However, one challenge is keeping posts concise and engaging, especially when tackling complex topics. I've learned that balancing informative content with readability requires a thoughtful approach to both writing style and presentation. Another takeaway has been understanding how audience engagement, like comments or discussions, can shape future content. Overall, blogging has taught me the importance of clarity, brevity, and interaction in online communication. One interesting Web 2.0 tool I might use for teaching is Quizizz . It’s an interactive platform that allows teachers to create quizzes, polls, and presentations in a gamified way, engaging students through friendly competition. Quizizz provides instant feedback, enabling students to learn from their m...

One of the Florida Computer Science standards for 2025-2026 focuses on digital citizenship for young students. For example, standard SC.K2.CS-PC.1.2, which will be discontinued after 2024-2025, teaches students to recognize the attributes of a good digital citizen. This includes protecting personal information, balancing online time, reporting cyberbullying, and identifying inappropriate content. I feel prepared to implement this standard because I have experience using technology and am familiar with concepts like online safety and digital literacy. However, teaching this to younger children might require additional strategies for simplifying these concepts in an engaging way.      CPALMS offers a variety of resources through its Educator Toolkit, including interactive student tutorials, lesson plans, and text resources. One useful resource is the original student tutorial on the influence of ancient Greece on modern democracy. This interactive tool ...

Throughout my K-12 educational experience MS word was not that important during my elementary and middle school years. It was when I reached high school that MS word became important and vital for many things like papers and note taking. Freshman year is when MS word was most important since the school was trying to get us certified in Microsoft office so a lot of time was spent learning word and the other programs. Though I do not prefer using MS word now that I am in college since I feel like in a world of ai it has become tricky and so I have moved to using google docs. The reason I prefer to use google docs is because I feel like it is a lot more organized and cleaner and because it has the ability to go back track all the edits and changes done to a paper so it makes it a lot easier to prove my work is mine and mine alone.  Among the ISTE standards for educators I believe 2.6 facilitator (https://iste.org/standards/educators) is really meaningful to me. This standard hig...

Hello, my name is Joel Hernandez, with my EME2040 class I hope to deepen my understanding of technology and to better learn how I can incorporate technology to more effectively run my future classrooms to enhance the level of teaching and learning. I am really interested in the various digital tools and platforms I will use and learn off of to hopefully use in the future to help create a more creative and collaborating classroom. I can also use what I learn in this course to better design lesson plans and enhance learning experiences that resonate with the diverse needs of students. With what I learn I hope to also use this information in this class to better organize myself when teaching to create less rubbish in my class with stacks of papers but instead with neat files.     Throughout my time in school I have always been familiar with technology. I would always have a computer class and in high school my magnet was cybersecurity where I would always have a com...
